September: The Month of Giving at Reading Alloys

Reading Alloys, a leading manufacturer of master alloys and high-purity metal powders, dedicated their focus to three events in September to help local causes. Employees at Reading Alloys, which is within a business unit of AMETEK Specialty Metal Products (SMP), donated time, knowledge and funds to a trio of local charitable initiatives during the month as part of AMETEK’s overall commitment to corporate social responsibility.

On September 12th, Reading Alloys sent a group of employees to work at a children’s home close to its office in Robesonia, PA. The team cleaned and sorted toys at the home, helped move heavy furniture between floors, folded clothing, and performed administrative tasks such as filing. All of which was part of the local United Way’s Day of Caring – a national initiative that takes place across America every year.

One week later, on September 18th and 19th, Reading Alloys employees joined forces with the Sparks Foundation’s Science Explorers Program. Employees were working alongside pupils from Penn Bernville Elementary School on exciting hands-on science experiments aimed at encouraging young people to study and enjoy science, a program which will last the entire school year. Reading Alloys supports Science Explorers and the SPARKS Foundation with funding from the AMETEK Foundation, which awards grants and provides support to worthy local initiatives in communities with AMETEK operations.

At the third event on September 29th, a Reading Alloys employee participated on a team to put their strength and endurance to the test as part of the “Warrior Challenge,” a series of physical tasks organised by the local YMCA. Reading Alloys sponsored the event with a monetary donation, which the YMCA put toward its support of a local memorial fund benefitting the needs of first responders. The Reading Alloys team rose to the Warrior Challenge and gave worthy performance on the day, taking 2nd place overall and 1st place co-ed.

Reading Alloys takes corporate social responsibility seriously and encourages its employees to pursue volunteering and fundraising opportunities. Known for its expertise in aluminothermic smelting, induction melting, vacuum sintering and metal powder production, Reading Alloys also works all year round to improve the lives of people living in their local community by supporting various charitable initiatives, including those made available via the AMETEK Foundation.

AMETEK Specialty Metal Products is a division of AMETEK Inc., a leading global manufacturer of electronic instruments and electromechanical devices with annual sales of $4.3 billion dollars.
